A plumber based in Lancashire has revealed what the impact of the cost of living crisis is doing to an elderly lady this Christmas.

A plumber said a pensioner ‘cried on his shoulder for 40 minutes’ because this was all she had in her fridge this Christmas James Anderson, who runs community interest company Depher UK providing emergency repairs for the vulnerable, visited the pensioner in Blackburn to fix her leaking tap and was shocked to see her empty fridge.

James, whose company is based in Burnley, Lancashire, said Mary had no special food for Christmas dinner.
