Eleven Merseyside restaurants, including one new entry, have been recognized in the AA Guide for 2024. The prestigious award signifies culinary excellence and distinguishes these restaurants as being on another level. Wreckfish, located on Seel Street in Liverpool, received one rosette and has been praised for its modern bistro atmosphere and delicious cuisine.

An AA inspector said: “From the 34th floor the views from this modern revolving restaurant are spectacular. Stone, natural wood, glass and under-lit tables set the interior scene, while the daily-evolving modern food includes international flavours such as miso and dukkah.” An inspector said: “The sixth offering in the Elite Bistros group of neighbourhood restaurants, Pinion is a charming little bistro sitting on the pedestrianised high street in Liverpool’s Prescott suburb. Décor is traditionally French in style, with chandeliers, mirrors and bare brick walls. Staff are friendly and very enthusiastic about the food, so they’ll happily recommend their favourite dishes.
The AA said: “Close to Liverpool’s main attractions, The Art School Restaurant is accessed through a discreet side entrance and the stylish dining area sits in a glass-roofed courtyard with a window into the kitchen allowing diners to see the chefs at close quarters. The assured cooking is rooted in French classics.”
The inspector said: “Set down a narrow alley in the Baltic Triangle area of Liverpool’s historic docklands, Manifest echoes the city’s industrial past with its pared back brick walls and minimalist style. The food is well-judged modern brasserie cooking with wide influences but a leaning towards the Mediterranean. Expect bold flavours and impeccably sourced ingredients.”
