A flipped-over side parting is a fresh way to update your hair, as shown by Emily Ratajkowski at the CFDA Awards last night.
A long-time advocate of a feathery, fringed, straight-down-the-middle centre parting, the author and model Emily Ratajkowski looked almost unrecognisable at last night’s CFDA Awards as she accessorised her Tory Burch minidress with a fresh, flipped-over side parting.
“A side parting can really showcase the character you are trying to portray, in the same way that the height of a ponytail can change a look,” says hairstylist Luke Hersheson. “A side parting is more gamine and can take something that is overtly sexy and make it a little tougher.” To recreate the insouciance of Ratajkowksi’s lived-in tumbling waves, you’ll need to take a methodical approach and put freshly curled pieces through their paces.
