Joe Gill played Finn Barton until the character was fatally shot by his own mother
Finn was accidentally shot in the woods by mum Emma Barton, who had no idea he was there. While he was eventually found and rushed to hospital, he later died from his injuries, bringing a tear to even the hardiest of soap fans' eyes.
Ahead of its opening night, Joe spoke to the ECHO about what it means to perform such a play in its home city, and how "gutted" he is that he won't get to try out a Scouse accent. He said: "Harry is from Lancashire, he's a wheeler dealer type. I also play a Glaswegian detective ... it's a cast of nine and there are more than 50 characters, so it's a challenge but it's great.
The former soap star is imploring Scouse audiences to come along and see the show. He added: "Every scene I'm not in, I watch and I am just in awe of what is going on. While the play is [set in the 1930s], a lot of people will be able to relate to themselves through Helen.
