A peacock escaped from its home and perched on a roof in Glasgow, Scotland, causing quite a stir among residents and emergency services.
An escaped peacock on the roof of a Glasgow home has left emergency workers in stitches after concerned calls from residents. Colin William was on his way home from work when he noticed a group of neighbours standing on Raasay Street at around 11pm on Saturday, January 11. He initially thought his neighbours were winding him up after saying that there was a peacock on the roof of a property.
Speaking to Glasgow Live, Colin said: 'All my neighbours were out in the street and they were telling me there was a peacock on the roof. I thought they were winding me up. 'Then I saw it. It was unbelievable. Apparently, there is a family at the end of the street that has four. I have lived here for five years, and I never knew that. 'It was the male that had escaped. It had already been on the roof for six hours before I showed up at around 11pm. I phoned the Fire Brigade and the Police and they were laughing down the phone. It's not the typical thing you hear happening in Milton.' Colin stayed with the owners as residents tried to coax the bird down with bread and food. He added: 'I was worried about the weather and it being a bird not used to the climate. The owners eventually managed to get it down at around 9am this morning (Sunday, January 12.) Colin posted the video to the TikTok account stayhighpieeyed1. In the video, locals can be heard commenting on the size of the bird, who is called Drew, as it sat perched on the edge of a two-story house. Besumed locals commented on the video, with one writing: 'Who’s got a peacock as a pet in Milton wtf though.' A second said: 'Still can’t believe it.' A third added: 'The Highlands have lynx while the Milton has peacocks!.' A fourth wrote: 'That’s some lynx looks like a turkey.
