It's been almost 9 months since local hairstylist, Angel Gomez, was shot to death by her estranged husband, Jose Antonio Gomez-Santana.
"Last year obviously was a record year for us. We never want to see the numbers get that high. One is too many. This year we are at 4 DV homicides ," said Lt Garner with CPD Family Crimes.
According to the police report filed last September, Gomez was lured by her estranged husband to their formally-shared home to pick up her belongings. Police say Gomez-Santana was hiding in a van parked in the driveway of the home when he jumped out, shot Gomez multiple times, and then took off on foot. Gomez-Santana has been on the run ever since.
According to Columbus Police, it’s hard to put a number on how many suspects are found when they are on the run. Lt Garner says a large majority are found through further investigation and tips.
