Michael McMonagle enters pleas at Derry Crown Court
A former Sinn Fein press officer has been placed on the Sex Offender’s Register after he pleading guilty to 14 charges of sexually abusing children.
He also pleaded guilty to 12 charges of attempting to sexually communicate with children for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification. One similar charge has been left on the books, not to be proceeded with without leave of the court. Judge Rafferty told McMonagle “your pleas of guilty have been noted. Count ten is not to be proceeded with without leave of the court. You will be sentenced on November 8 and I am directing a pre-sentencing report. In cases such as this a pre-sentence report is of particular value to the court and it is in your interests that you should co-operate with the author of that report so that I have as much information as possible”.
