Everton academy goalkeeper Douglass Lukjanciks is targeting Jordan Pickford ’s spot after signing his first professional contract. Although he was born in Latvia, the 17-year-old from Southport is an England Under-18 international and having been with Everton since the age of 12, has been a regular for Leighton Baines’ Blues Under-18s this season. Lukjanciks, who has penned a three-year deal through to June 2027, told evertonfc.com : “I feel privileged and honoured to be given this contact.
In an exclusive interview with the ECHO earlier this month, Asmir Begovic said: “We’ve got a good group with Jordan, Joao and a few youngsters coming through although a couple of them are on loan spells now. “When it comes to the actual goalkeeping department, I think it’s first class all the way through the whole club. It’s just a pleasure to be part of it doing all I can to help them to progress even more.
