Temperatures are expected to rise next year
Experts from the Met Office have said 2025 could be the hottest year on record. The outlook for next year suggests that it is likely to be one of the three warmest years for global average temperature, falling in line just behind 2024 and 2023. 2025 is expected to be the warmest year on record, now almost certain to exceed 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels for the first time, say meteorologists. This follows on from the record-breaking 1.
2016 was an El Niño year and at the time it was the warmest year on record for global temperature. In comparison to our forecast for 2025 though, 2016 is now looking decidedly cool.” The average global temperature for 2025 is forecast to be between 1.29°C and 1.53°C above the average for the pre-industrial period . This would make 2024 the twelfth year in succession that temperatures will have reached at least 1.0°C above pre-industrial levels.
