Support is available to young carers still at school, and Clydesdale MSP Mairi McAllan is urging people to check eligibility

Carers across North and South Lanarkshire are being urged to apply for a new payment which has been rolled out with widened eligibility criteria.

The free download features the latest breaking news and exclusive stories, and allows you to customise your page to the sections that matter most to you.The benefit has been available since its introduction to carers aged 16-19 in full-time “advanced” education, those over 20 in full-time education at any level and carers in part-time education.

Clydesdale MSP Mairi McAllan, a Scottish Government cabinet secretary, said: “Carer Support Payment extends availability to more carers, providing links to wider services to help carers access all the support they are entitled to, and introducing clearer processes and timescales for carers during the application.
