Concerns have been raised by locals in the area that people have been climbing onto the boat
An eyesore boat is set to be removed from the Nottingham and Beeston Canal after being abandoned for months. For more than a year a boat has been left in disrepair and slowly sinking on the canal close to Castle Boulevard.
, which is now covered in graffiti and litter. It is suspected that youths have been climbing onto the boat. Photos of the boat show that it is slowly sinking, and has not been lived in or used for some time due to the rotting wood, damaged furniture inside and other abandoned items, such as a shoe, some material and bits of plastic.
The Canal and River Trust has confirmed that the boat will be removed, and this is expected to happen in the week of Monday, May 13. A spokesperson for the Canal and River Trust said: "It’s very sad to see the boat in this condition and we’ve been working for a number of months to obtain the legal power to remove it.
"Contractors will be going in this week to remove the boat, making the canal a more welcoming place for people and wildlife."
