According to AAA, California has the highest prices at an average of $4.59 per gallon, and Mississippi has the lowest at $2.93 per gallon. Local taxes and fees play a big part in the price disparity. For example, California has the highest state gas tax in the nation, so they naturally see much higher prices at the pump.
