With the Kimberley one of the few regional areas to back the Voice, Aboriginal youth leaders say the 'devastating' result will ultimately inspire them into greater advocacy.

Remote Aboriginal communities serviced by the Australian Electoral Commission's remote polling teams recorded the Yes vote above 80 per cent.Ms Graham said she felt the referendum would encourage young people to be more determined to achieve change for their communities.She has long focused on issues among Indigenous youth, including mental health access, and said she wanted to send a message to young people to keep their heads up.

"It's about older generations equipping us and giving us all the knowledge, building up our capacity to take this forward," Mr Turner said.
