The amount of fentanyl confiscated was more than twice the amount needed to overdose the entire population of Alaska.

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Following months of investigation, the Fairbanks Areawide Narcotics Team and the Fairbanks Criminal Suppression Unit seized a large amount of drugs, weapons and cash from a home during the execution of a search warrant on March 19, 2024.

The resident of the home, 46-year-old Fairbanks resident Kevin Shank, was arrested on charges of controlled substance misconduct and weapons misconduct. The search revealed large amounts of cash, narcotics and guns, according to a police report. The total street value of the seized narcotics in the Fairbanks areas is estimated to be between $1,067,000 to well over $1,500,000.Alaska law enforcement would like to request that people continue to report suspicious drug activity, saying, “These tips from the public are an important component of our investigation efforts.
