A health warning has been issued after bottles were pulled from the shelves of the Lanarkshire store last month, when a customer reported that it 'smelled of nail varnish remover'.
A public health warning has been issued after counterfeit vodka seized from a shop was found to contain a potentially lethal chemical.
North Lanarkshire Council's environmental health officers and Food Standards Scotland pulled the bottles from shelves.READ MORE: Lanarkshire GP missed key cancer symptoms after failing to organise face-to-face appointments Symptoms of isopropyl alcohol poisoning include abdominal pain, vomiting, dizziness, headaches, confusion, slow breathing, and in severe cases, coma or death.FSS said the scale of distribution of the counterfeit product is still unknown and urged anyone who believes they may have consumed it to contact their GP.
If anyone believes they may have purchased such products, they have been asked to contact the FSS Scottish Food Crime and Incidents Unit for further advice. They have also been urged to not drink any of the product and store it in a safe place to allow FSS to collect and analyse it.
