Government offers £350 to families to help with rising living costs
It's 'crunch day' as the energy price cap rise is revealed and families are told what Government help they'll get towards the rise in costs.
Rishi Sunak said those with homes in the council tax bands A to D will receive a £150 discount on their council tax bill in April, while anyone – regardless of income – with a heating and electric bill will get £200 off their energy bills in October. The announcement was made on what has been described as 'Black Thursday' after energy regulator Ofgem announced a 54% increase on the energy price cap.
