John Furness died a week after the incident
The family of an 'adventurous' grandad who inspired his family have paid tribute to him after he was hit by a car on his way to buy a lottery ticket close to his home. John Furness was hit by a Toyota Prius at the junction of Rathbone Road and Wellington Road in Wavertree on Friday, November 22, at around 7.15pm.
We have been truly touched by the amount of tributes from family and friends, thank you for your help and support through these difficult times. Special thankyou to Gill for the care she gave our dad in his final days.' Detective Sergeant Simon Duffy from the Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit said at the time: “Our thoughts are with this man’s family at this sad time and they are being supported by a specially trained officer.
