Anas Sarwar said Glasgow had 'overwhelmingly rejected' far right agitators in the past and would do so again in the future.

Political leaders have said the far right has "no place in Scotland" after a notorious extremist promoted a rally in Glasgow .

More than 100 people have been arrested at subsequent violent demonstrations in England in recent days following the Southport knife attack. He said: "The most important people in all of this is are the families who are grieving the loss of a loved one. The parents who are worried about their kids still in intensive care. And a community that's hurting right now.

"Glasgow is my city. And I know as a Glaswegian, we can't be complacent, we can't pretend there aren't issues here. But we have always been a city that, regardless of where you come from, regardless of where you were born, when you come here you are one of us. Robinson - an anti-Islamist activist who is the subject of an arrest warrant - shared a post that said the Glasgow event would coincide with other pro-UK rallies.
