Debt charity Citizens Advice Scotland has been contacted by people told they're not eligible for £300 payment that could help them as worst cost-of-living crisis in memory continues.
Thousands of hard-up Scots could miss out on a lifeline payment introduced to help them survive amid the worst cost-of-living crisis in memory.
But they will only be eligible if they claimed social security payments including Universal Credit, Job Seekers Allowance, Employment Support Allowance and Pension Credit between August 18 and September 17. People who made a claim after that date, will miss out. “In one case a disabled woman was refused her cost-of-living payment and told she was not eligible despite being in receipt of Employment Support Allowance.
“It doesn’t seem fair that someone who has needed extra support from our social security system this month won’t qualify for these payments as we head into the winter. For Universal Credit alone that could be as many as 12,000 people.“
