For the second week in a row, a Mobile woman charged with drug trafficking showed up for a preliminary hearing, only to see it postponed due to a looming federal investigation.
Mobile County District Judge Zackery Moore on Monday reset the hearing for next week for Tierra Tocorra Hill and two other defendants, Glennie Antonio McGee and Antonio Dwone Reed. By then, one or more of the defendants could be in federal custody.“The indictment’s been blacked out, but I have a high suspicion that she has been named,” he said.
“It was a lot of drugs, very dangerous drugs,” Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood told FOX10 News. “Very high amount of cocaine.”“We take all of these cases seriously, especially when you have such a large amount of very dangerous drugs like what we believe, at this point, to be cocaine. You know, we’ve seen the rise of fentanyl in our community over the last couple of years and several months, and that’s certainly a dangerous narcotic drug.
Allegations against the third defendant in state court, Reed, revolve around a traffic stop last month on Benson Drive and Wolf Ridge Road, off of Moffett Road. Prosecutors allege investigators found 3 kilograms of cocaine in a car that that Reed was driving and that McGee was a passenger. Alford said he does not believe his client is connected to the federal case. He said Reed simply was giving a ride to McGee, a longtime friend.
“We would content he did not have knowledge of what Mr. McGee was in possession of,” he said. “I believe that Mr. McGee, when he got out of the car, claimed the substance that was found and stated that Mr. Reed, Antonio Reed, did not have knowledge about that and was just giving him a ride.
