The new Feyenoord boss will be keen to keep hold of his star man - but Forest are expected to step up their interest this week
Feyenoord’s manager Brian Priske has remained tight-lipped on Santiago Gimenez’s future after the club's Eredivisie fixture yesterday.
If he were to move to the Reds he would likely go straight into Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans; Chris Wood has played most of the pre-season fixtures but Gimenez could provide that cutting edge that Forest lacked in attack for much of last season. After two years back among the elite, the Reds are now well aware of the task in front of them and the challenges they face. And although there is no doubt this particular division takes no prisoners, there is a sense Forest are now equipped to meet the test head on.
Admittedly, reading too much into summer friendlies is unwise. Predicting how an unpredictable Premier League might pan out is not easy at the best of times.
