A fighter jet was spotted as a thunder-like sound was heard by people across Nottinghamshire. The fighter plane was pictured in the sky above Nottingham at around 12noon on Tuesday, March 14.
One resident in north Nottinghamshire said the fly-past sounded like "thunder", while others were confused by the jet's presence, which "blasted across the city". It is understood the jet pictured was a Belgian Air Force F-16, which is an American-made fighter aircraft. A RAF spokesperson confirmed that if the jet was an F-16, then it would be the Belgian Air Force taking part in Exercise Cobra Warrior. The representative explained that on clear days all regions are likely to see groups of fast aircraft and other types of plane working with them.Exercise Cobra Warrior is an international training programme, which brings together fighter pilots and aircrews from India, Saudi Arabia, Belgium and Finland at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire.
