Councillors had the chance to quiz Scottish Fire and Rescue Service chiefs following the blazes at the Dumbuck last month.
Fire chiefs haven’t identified any other buildings in Dumbarton as being at risk, following two blazes in a month that destroyed the Dumbuck Hotel.
Speaking about the incidents at a meeting of West Dunbartonshire Council’s housing and communities committee last week, Labour councillor David McBride said: “One of the major issues in Dumbarton has been the fires at the Dumbuck Hotel. “There is obviously a lot of concern amongst the community, and there was not a lot of surprise that these types of incidents happen.
“The understanding that we have on a local level is the importance that that building played and how concerned the community were prior to the fire taking place. “As the Group Commander says, there is nothing to the same level of importance to us where we believe there is that risk. But we are prepared to respond if intelligence is shared showing that something else is at risk to that level.”
