Several other people were evacuated from the building, authorities said.
An investigator with Central Mat-Su Fire Department works at the location of a fire that killed one person in Wasilla on Wednesday morning. The fire was reported just before 6:30 a.m. in the home near Lucus Road, according to Ken Barkley, director of emergency services for the Matanuska-Susitna Borough. Responders from the Central Mat-Su Fire Department could see flames coming out of windows as well as vehicles on fire, Barkley said.No additional information was immediately available.
A Central Mat-Su fire investigator was at the duplex Wednesday afternoon, along with a few firefighters. The one-story structure on a quiet street was built in 2002, according to borough property records.
