The Environment Agency received 1,379 complaints from residents in March
The bosses of a landfill in Fleetwood, the centre of months of smell complaints, are linked to another nuisance site in Yorkshire.
Caird operate Peckfield Landfill Site in Micklefield, Leeds which has also been the centre of complaints in the West Yorkshire city. On December 13, 2023, the Environment Agency served an enforcement notice after operators breached the terms of their permit.According to the government body, this included action to improve the gas collection infrastructure on site.
An Environment Agency spokesperson said: "There are ongoing investigations into the causes of odour issues at both Peckfield landfill, which is operated by Caird Peckfield Ltd, and Jameson Road landfill, which is operated by Transwaste Ltd.
