With so many popular routes in the Peak District here are some perhaps lesser-known spots
Over the Easter break, it is likely that a day out walking in the countryside is high up on people's lists of ways to enjoy the long weekend. Without a doubt one of the best areas in Derbyshire to sample some the spring scenery is the Peak District.
Read about the best ways to prepare for a safe Peak District hike, on the Edale Mountain Rescue Team website . Errwood is the latter of the two Goyt Valley reservoirs, constructed in 1967. There are lots of vantage points which, in the sun, turns the area into a shimmering pool of sapphire-like water.
Each one of the "edges" provide strikingly beautiful views of areas of the national park, including the enticing Derwent Valley. After reaching the summit of White Edge, you make your way across to Curbar Edge where, on a perfect spring day, you will be greeted with blue skies and views of the village below Calver.
A four-mile round walk, a journey through this dale provides secretive brooks, with a series of cascading waterfalls. Although these waterfalls tend to turn into a trickle during the warmer months, in spring the ever-changing weather makes for a collection of impressive rapids. You will be spoilt for choice for vistas, with the Derwent Valley and Edale Valley viewable from certain points. Using grassy footpaths and country lanes, this route is relatively accessible and half a day at least is recommended to dedicate to the six mile walk in order to properly appreciate the canvas the route is set upon.
