Angela Rayner's speech was the highlight of day one
Wirral South MP Alison McGovern kicked off proceedings at ACC Liverpool today before deputy leader Angela Rayner took to the stage. The speeches were full of fighting spirit as Labour looks to take the fight to the Conservatives in a general election.
Whether this is primarily due to the electorate's exhaustion after 13 years of Tory rule or genuine passion for Keir Starmer's Labour Party is up for debate. Regardless, the party is enjoying its spell on top. Barclays, Google and Ineos all have stalls, while Sainsbury's had a Scalextric track that was catching the eye of many people as they walked by. As it looks set to inherit an economy in ill health, the party is happily entertaining private firms.
