A Loganair flight from Belfast has been forced to perform an emergency landing due to a mid-air "technical issue" onboard.

The airline confirmed that after a technical issue arose on flight LM86 from Belfast to Aberdeen, the aircraft was forced to land in Edinburgh as a precaution on Monday, Edinburgh Live reports.Read more:New low-cost airline to operate transatlantic flights from Northern Ireland The flight took off from Belfast around 1.39pm, over an hour later than planned and was due to touch down in Aberdeen at 1:30pm. Reports suggest the flight eventually landed in Edinburgh shortly before 2.30pm.

A spokesperson for Loganair said: “A Loganair flight operating between Belfast and Aberdeen made a precautionary landing in Edinburgh today [Monday] after a technical issue arose. “The aircraft landed without incident at Edinburgh Airport and alternative travel is being arranged for all passengers.
