Heavy rain and melting snow have led to dozens of flood warnings and alerts across Nottinghamshire. Residents are urged to take precautions and prepare for possible flooding.

Dozens of flood warnings and alerts are in place across Nottinghamshire after the county was hit by heavy rain and thawing snow. People have been warned to turn off their electricity, gas and water as the risk of flooding of properties and farmland is 'imminent'. A warning for River Erewash and Boundary Brook at Trowell and Stapleford Moorbridge Lane reads: 'River levels are rising at the Boundary Brook, Trowell river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall and snow.

Consequently, flooding of property/roads and farmland is possible this evening , 05/01/25. Areas most at risk are Trowell and Stapleford from the Boundary Brook, including Cranbourne Close, Trowell Park Drive, Need Wood Avenue and Roehampton Drive. Further rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours. We expect river levels to remain high until Tuesday on 07/01/25. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are patrolling watercourses in the area. Please move possessions and valuables off the ground or to safety and turn off gas, electricity and water.' The warning, which means flooding is expected and people should take action as soon as possible, was still active at the time of writing, at 8.50am on Monday, January 6. The flood warning area stretches from River Erewash at Stapleford from the M1 to the playing fields south of Moorbridge Lane and Boundary Brook up to Trowell Road. A yellow weather warning for rain has also been issued by the Met Office and is in place until 10am. There were 21 flood warnings and 21 flood alerts in place for Nottinghamshire as of 9am on Monday. The flood alerts suggest flooding is possible and people should 'be prepared' to take action. The full list of flood warnings and alerts can be seen below
