The Environment Agency says people should 'remain vigilant' with several flood warnings still in place across Nottinghamshire . Widespread flooding was seen on Monday (January 6) with 19 active flood warnings issued in the morning alone across the county. A total of 20 flood alerts were also in place amid a Met Office yellow weather warning affecting Nottinghamshire throughout the morning.
Although flooding has now subsided in many areas, the Environment Agency says the River Trent's levels will continue to rise over the next few days Pictures showed the Trent nearly bursting its banks by Nottingham Forest's City Ground this afternoon (Tuesday, January 7). A spokesperson for the East Midlands Environment Agency said: 'We urge people to remain vigilant and advise anyone travelling to be especially careful. 'We also urge people to stay away from swollen rivers and not to drive through flood water as just 30cm of flowing water is enough to move your car.'
