Heavy rain and melting snow have led to widespread flooding in the East Midlands, causing road closures, train disruptions, and flood warnings.
Our BBC Weather Watchers have been up and about early to capture some images of rising flood water. Derbyshire County Council said that snow overnight in the north of the county has led to the following road closures this morning: Chesterfield Road between the A6 at Rowsley and Beeley Lane National Highways says the road is closed eastbound between the A60 at Ruddington and the A606.
Leicester Area Traffic Control has urged drivers to avoid the junction of Derby Road and Alan Moss Road, and Belton in Loughborough, as well as Beggars Lane between Leicester Forest East and Enderby, both of which are flooded. East Midlands Railway (EMR) says there is disruption across multiple routes due to flooding this morning. The line between Derby and Long Eaton is currently closed and heavy rain has shut the line between Grantham and Nottingham. There are currently 33 flood warnings across Derbyshire, 21 in Nottinghamshire, and 30 in Leicestershire. This is due to heavy rain and thawing snow. Some homes and businesses are at risk of flooding, and there may be travel disruption, according to government advice. There have been reports of flooding as a yellow weather warning remains in place for snow and ice across Derbyshire and the western parts of Nottinghamshire
