Heavy rainfall and snow in Nottinghamshire have caused widespread flooding, forcing road closures, disrupting public transport, and impacting homes. The River Trent has surged, inundating areas near Trent Bridge and moving towards Nottingham Forest's City Ground.

residents are warily monitoring nearby rivers as recent wet and snowy weather continues to push up water levels. The areas that have been most impacted so far during this rainy and cold spell have been parts of Bassetlaw. The major river was running at more than 1.5m above the top of the 'normal range' at 8.15am on January 8. Pictures show it has inundated the steps near to Trent Bridge and is moving towards Nottingham Forest's City Ground.

A significant number of roads in the county are currently closed due to flooding, including the A617 Kelham Road between the A46 and Kelham. The Queen's Drive Park and Ride in Nottingham remains shut. Reports also suggest that more than 40 homes have been flooded in the village of Zouch, a small village in south-west Nottinghamshire near the River Soar. Meanwhile, the combination of flooding and icy conditions have made for difficult driving conditions.
