There's an urgent warning today about the dangers of leaving children locked inside hot cars following the tragic death of a three-year-old boy in Sydney's south west. SophieUpcroft 9News READ MORE:
Floral tributes have been left on the street where a child was found dead in a hot car in Sydney yesterday.
The three-year-old boy's father discovered the toddler locked inside a Toyota outside shops in Glenfield, where temperatures had reached 34 degrees. Flowers, candles, and a stuffed dinosaur have been laid at the scene, as well as a sign that reads: "Rest in Peace little one".At 3pm yesterday the dad was picking up his oldest son from school nearby and when he returned to the car realised he had forgotten to take the younger boy to daycare.
NSW Police believe the boy could have been in the car for several hours, but how long the vehicle was parked on the street is still under investigation. Witnesses told 9News they stepped in to help the distraught dad as he pulled his son from the car and started CPR once he was taken into a nearby shop with air conditioning.Paramedics arrived but the three-year-old died at the scene.to receive our daily newsletters and breaking news alerts, sent straight to your inbox.
