Sean Hood pleaded guilty to a number of offences
A man has been sentenced after he repeatedly rammed police cars while desperately trying to avoid being arrested. Sean Hood, 36, was driving recklessly on Nuthall Road, Nottingham, in the early hours of Sunday, June 2.
Hood ignored demands to stop from a police vehicle and drove off at speed. He passed through red lights and drove directly into oncoming traffic, before brake-testing and ramming pursuing vehicles as he was trying to escape in his Skoda Fabia. He was eventually boxed in by officers on Valley Road and brought to a stop, with one of the vehicles blocking his door to prevent his escape. After being taken into custody, Hood was also arrested for spitting at a detention officer.
He later pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, drink driving, driving without a license, driving without insurance and common assault of an emergency worker. He appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday, September 9, where he was jailed for 13 months and also banned from driving for three-and-a-half years.
Sergeant Matthew Crabtree, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "This was a horrendous display of driving that could easily have caused serious injury to other road users, Hood’s passengers or the occupants of the police cars he repeatedly rammed.
