New testing of vapes confiscated from schoolchildren shows the drug is rife. Researchers are now worried about youngsters becoming addicted

In schools in every part of the country, an epidemic is bubbling under the surface. Children are unknowingly vaping Spice - and there is a real risk of many becoming addicted.

He believes young people are buying the vapes both through dealers on the street and on social media, and that each tube of liquid costs just a few pounds. He told the M.E.N he is concerned about young people becoming addicted to Spice through vaping, and how these young people run the risk of being missed by drug services.

Headteacher Ben Davis, of St Ambrose Barlow RC High School in Salford, invited Prof Pudney to test a batch of confiscated vapes at the school in July. He said his school had incidents of young people under the influence of Spice, with two children collapsing including one in the playground. "If someone offers you one of these refillables or some liquid and they say it's cannabis, it's very, very unlikely actually to be cannabis is much more likely that it's Spice, and that's a much more risky drug," Professor Pudney said.
