BBC sports presenter Gabby Logan opens up about the emotional adjustments she's making as her children embark on their independent lives.
Gabby Logan has spoken about the changes she's experiencing in her family life since her children left home. Speaking to HELLO! magazine, the BBC sports presenter shared that she's been adjusting to the new dynamic. Her daughter Lois started university last September, following her twin brother Reuben's departure 18 months earlier to pursue a rugby career.Logan said: 'I was waiting to feel more grief, so hopefully we're finding a balance.
Maybe I'm saying yes to things that I wouldn't usually say yes to. It's a slow and interesting change. It doesn't feel dramatic, but I'm sure that when I look back in a year, I'll realise that things have changed a lot.' While she expected to feel a sense of loss with an empty nest, Logan admitted there are only occasional moments when it feels strange. She said: 'There are some nights when you're on your own, and then it does feel a bit strange.' Last August, Logan had spoken about preparing for Lois' departure on her Midlife with Gabby Logan podcast. She noted that her daughter's university schedule would mean longer periods without seeing her. Logan expressed her joy in witnessing her children's sporting accomplishments from the sidelines. Both Lois and Reuben are pursuing careers in sports. Lois is training to be a showjumper at the University of Loughborough, while Reuben plays for Northampton Saints. Logan stressed her desire not to ride on their 'coat-tails' or live 'vicariously' through them
