Gang tortured then murdered dad of one in basement over missing £300 in 'relentless, sadistic attack'
A gang who lured a man to a property so they could torture and murder him have been jailed. Adam Clapham and another man were subjected to a 'sadistic and relentless' attack in Rotherham, South Yorkshire on September 18 last year.
The five were convicted of murder following a trial at Sheffield Crown Court. Ashraf, Crookes and the 17-year-old were also found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, false imprisonment and rape. Millar was convicted of grievous bodily harm with intent and false imprisonment along with Lynette Myers, 39.
The judge said: "I have no doubt that this attack involved a sadistic element of torture in its relentlessness. The nature and extent of the wounds he was found to have sustained - in excess of 200 in total - are testimony to the sadistic attack he was subjected. "You Millar also played your part in the violence, punching and kicking the victims and egging them on. At some point, the second victim was taken upstairs and I have no doubt you Crookes broke a bottle on his head. The volume of injuries - over 50 in total - also bear witness to the brutal nature of the assaults on him."The judge said that he was sure that the only thing that brought the attacks to an end was the fact the victims passed out and "could take no more".
