The Ground Force star has criticised the concept of 'rewilding' saying it could result in less biodiversity in UK gardens
NOT GOOD: The TV expert was giving evidence to the House of Lords
Rewilding sees gardeners leave a patch of their land 'wild' to grow as a meadow. However, Titchmarsh shared his own experiences, revealing that a two-acre wildflower meadow attracted fewer birds and insects compared to his cultivated garden. "The garden is patently richer - and for longer - in the variety of insect and bird species it sustains. Domestic gardeners have a duty to ensure the survival of this unparalleled resource."Should a current fashionable and ill-considered trend deplete our gardens of their botanical riches then we have presided over a diminution in biodiversity of catastrophic proportions."
