Co-creators Corden and Ruth Jones revealed in May that the series would be back for a Christmas special this year.
James Corden has given a filming update on the final episode of sitcom Gavin & Stacey. It was revealed in May the series would return for one last time on Christmas Day. The programme originally aired between 2007 and 2010, before returning for a special in 2019. Co-creator Ruth Jones had previously denied rumours of a return, which first emerged in US media, before she and Corden finally confirmed the reunion.
In the intervening years since the show's original run, Corden presented his own chat show The Late Late Show until last year. Mainly filmed in South Wales, Gavin & Stacey focuses on the romance between the titular characters and the lives of their friends and families. Corden and Jones star as their best friends Smithy and Nessa, respectively. While Rob Brydon, Melanie Walters, Alison Steadman and Larry Lamb also appear as the pair's eccentric family.
