Several reports have been made since July 5 of a person driving a truck and intentionally driving into garbage cans, bringing a new meaning to ‘taking out the trash.’
While it may seem like a harmless act, the vandalizing and destroying of trash cans could cost hundreds if not thousands in taxpayer dollars. GENEVA COUNTY , Ala. - Geneva County deputies are looking to gather information to identify a person who’s been destroying garbage cans around Black , Alabama .
Smith said it is possible for more cans to be damaged, as some people may work or be out of town and have not been able to report yet. “Cans cost about $60 a piece to replace for new cans,” said Smith. “That doesn’t take into consideration the fact that we’re going to have to put in a lot of man hours to go out and send somebody out to replace these cans.”
Trash cans may not seem like much, but Sheriff Helms fears this behavior could lead to more aggressive crimes.
