A mum of a 13-year-old girl who died after taking a sip of a Costa Coffee drink said her 'heart is broken' at the death of her daughter. Hannah Jacobs suffered an 'immediate reaction' after taking a sip of the hot chocolate drink. An inquest heard how the teen was severely allergic to dairy products, along with fish and eggs, since she was a toddler and her mum had specifically requested her drink be made with soya milk.
Giving evidence, Ms Duyile also told the court that she had been careful about checking with the staff before they prepared the drinks, saying: 'I made sure that the staff was aware that this was not a joke.' Ms Duyile said she was being 'extra picky' and so specific about the order that she 'might sound like a crazy mum' but her attitude was that she needed 'to be straight with the staff'.
