11-year-old Luna Ivey and her family traveled to San Antonio to witness the solar eclipse from one of the closest spots to totality in the city.

Of course a girl named after the Moon would see the brighter side to Monday's murky view of the much-anticipated solar eclipse . “It was really grand, and I enjoyed it a lot,” said 11-year-old Luna Ivey , whose mother Noelia Ivey drove two hours from Beeville to San Antonio so that Luna, her brother Maverick, 8, and cousin Gia Blount, 10, could catch the eclipse from one of the closest spots to totality in the heart of the Alamo City.

Tornado watch for I-35 cities north of San Antonio, including New Braunfels, San Marcos and Austin The San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department hosted eclipse viewing events at several parks and centers along the path of totality, which included Eisenhower Park, Melendrez Community Center and Phil Hardberger Park. One of San Antonio's more central sites still in that sweet spot of totality was Granados Adult & Senior Center at 500 Freiling Drive.
