Zara Mohammed, the secretary-general of the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB), said hundreds of mosques across the country will be strengthening their security and protective measures this weekend.
Glasgow mosques will be tightening up security this weekend over fears far-right groups are planning more rallies.
On Tuesday, a number of clashes were reported on the streets of near to where the horror incident happened as protesters gathered outside a mosque. A police van was torched by the protesters, who were also seen kicking down walls and picking up loose bits of stones to throw at police who had gathered
“We had mosques saying that they’d had threats on the phone about targeted attacks… we had a lot of anxiety around security and having enough protection.”
