The problem is so severe that one resident noticed at least thirty potholes on one road

Glasgow motorists have slammed the council over the horrendous state of roads throughout the city, with some forking out hundreds of pounds to repair their tyres after driving over giant potholes. The problem is so severe that one resident has branded Glasgow as 'pothole city' after noticing at least thirty potholes on Nitshill Road in the Southside alone, Glasgow Live reports.

Jackie Cumming continued: "Went down a huge pothole on the road to Renfrew yesterday at the road next to the airport, thought the wheel was a gonner." Grahame Marlow commented: "It is an absolute disgrace, it is impossible to drive on any street in Glasgow without trying to avoid one and blow a tyre."

"I've had wheel bearings break, cv joints which I never new about and it ended up bursting through my gear box. I hit a huge one in the dark a few weeks ago and think my wheel bearings went again.A spokesman for Glasgow City Council said: “Potholes can appear at any time but environmental factors such as frost, snow and rain will have a significant impact on condition of the city’s roads.
