St Francis Primary only took delivery of the vehicle earlier this month after staff spent two and a half years collating school funds together to buy it.

Headteacher Joanne Martin describe the experience as "soul destroying" and it is hoped someone can come to the rescue to get the windows fixed.The bus had been parked in the playground and it is believed it may have been targeted on Monday. There are concerns now rain has poured in.Children were looking forward to school trips and particularly P7s who are due to leave soon.The minibus is to be used to take children to new places they may not have the opportunity to visit.

Ms Martin said: "Our vision and commitment to the children is to provide experiences for the children that may not always be possible.Excursions could include trips on the weekend or evening to the beach according to Ms Martin to give pupils the chance to see areas they would not normally see.Local councillor Soryia Siddique, Labour, said: "This is so disappointing for pupils and the learning community. This mindless destruction is unacceptable.

SNP councillor Christina Cannon, education and early years convenor, said: "This is absolutely heartbreaking for the pupils and staff who look forward to this time of year for school trips and outings.A number of primary school windows were also smashed. It is understood the incident has been reported to the police.
