EEG data from nearly 500 five month old infants shows that a different topographical organization of global motion processing is associated with autistic symptoms in toddlerhood.
With EASE data, we regressed behavioral test scores on Laterality Scores in all four conditions. Analogously, with BATSS data, we regressed ITC Total Scores and QCHAT scores, separately in two models, on Laterality Score inthe Global Motion condition. Sex and age at behavioral test were used as covariates. In addition, for the EASE model, group was included as an extra covariate. In all these models, moderation by sex was tested.
As supplementary analyses, we further fitted OLS linear models of the sub-scales of ADOS, Social Affect and Restricted and Repetitive Behavior, on EASE data; see Supplementary TableWe performed a planned comparison of the four groups in terms of their Laterality Scores in each condition. Again, a linear mixed model and EMM effect-size analysis were employed to account for the violation of independence assumption and the unbalanced sample sizes. Since the comparison was planned, we performed no.

Conserved transcription factors promote cell fate stability and restrict reprogramming potential in differentiated cells - Nature CommunicationsTransdifferentiation has been proposed as an approach for regenerative medicine, but the mechanisms that safeguard cell identity are not well established. Here they identify transcription factors that oppose transdifferentiation and show that knockdown of these genes improves recovery after myocardial infarction.

P2X3 receptor antagonism attenuates the progression of heart failure - Nature CommunicationsDespite medications, heart failure worsens with time with many patients dying within five years of diagnosis. Here the authors show that blocking purinergic receptors in the carotid body stops heart failure progression, improves its function, reduces sleep apneas and systemic inflammation in male rats.
