Alyson King, 63, has been left devastated after a storm caused huge trees to fall onto her Dumfries and Galloway property, causing over £50,000 worth of damage. Despite raising concerns with Tilhill Forestry about the trees being too close to her home, and agreeing to have them cut down, the company failed to remove them when scheduled. Ms King claims she has been promised compensation but has only received 'pittances of cash' after ten years. The incident also triggered a fire at her property, forcing her to fight the blaze herself.

A grandmother has been 'living in 'hell on earth' since huge trees crushed her farm after forestry experts failed to cut them down.

'I could actually reach our boundary fence without stretching and touch these trees. They were right beside us,' she said. Animal rescue centre owner, Alyson King , was 'devastated' when spruces fell onto her Dumfries and Galloway property during a storm, causing more than £50,000 worth of damage But, despite a felling license being issued, on the date the trees were due to be removed, no one from Tilhill Forestry turned up

Ms King added how one of the animals, a stallion, was left so traumatised by a tree falling onto the barn that he had to be euthanised. Just months later Ms King woke up in the middle of the night to 'awful screaming wind' and the next morning she was met with a 'horrific' sight She explained how she was forced to fight the blaze by hand and cover animal cages with wet towels while she waited for the fire brigade to arrive.

To make matters worse just a few days after the storm a generator - which was being used to heat Ms King's home after the electricity was 'ripped out' – caught fire. Pictured: A fuse box after the fire
