The summer transfer window closes this week and Man United are looking to strengthen Erik ten Hag's options in midfield.
If you haven't noticed, there's an ongoing joke that suggests Erik ten Hag exclusively signs players he's previously worked with.
Mount made such an impression that Ten Hag attempted to sign him for Ajax after his loan at Vitesse, but a then blossoming talent joined Derby County in the Championship instead to work with Chelsea legend Frank Lampard. Eriksen and Martinez have been excellent signings and Onana is already an upgrade on David de Gea, but the £86million invested in Antony continues to baffle and that signing looks worse because Ten Hag insisted on pushing the deal through.
All of the power has been given to Ten Hag instead and that's seen Tottenham outcast Pierre-Emile Højbjerg linked to the club this summer. Højbjerg is not good enough for Spurs and he's not near the level to represent United. Højbjerg is not the solution at Old Trafford and while Fiorentina's Sofyan Amrabat would undoubtedly be a better addition, he's another player who has worked with Ten Hag previously, having spent time together at Utrecht.
