Following social media footage showing young members of Gypsy and Traveller communities being directed by police onto trains at Manchester Victoria railway station, Greater Manchester's deputy mayor, Kate Green, has called for a full report from Greater Manchester Police (GMP) and plans to convene a meeting with community leaders. Green emphasized that she expects the police to treat everyone fairly and with respect.
The deputy mayor of Greater Manchester has issued a statement after social media video footage showed young members of Gypsy and Traveller communities being herded by police onto trains at Manchester Victoria railway station.

Girls can be overheard shouting they don't know where they are going.
But the charity said it has been contacted by 'numerous parents' - and that children were left upset and distressed. Some, it added, were separated from siblings. "While we will not tolerate lawlessness and anti-social behaviour in Greater Manchester, I want to reassure the community that I expect the police to treat everyone fairly and with respect, and I will be inviting community leaders to meet me to discuss what has happened."
