Three incidents - in Clayton, Leigh and Wythenshawe - 'act as a sobering reminder of the effects knife crime has in communities', police said
Knife crime is a national epidemic. News stories of blades being used to commit horrific, violent crimes country are all too common. But that does not diminish the shock of four incidents in our region in less than a week.
Shortly after, another man presented himself at hospital with stab wounds. His injuries are linked to the same incident, police said. Neither man has been named. No arrests have been made. In an update issued this afternoon , GMP said two more men - one in his 40s and one in his 50s - were detained on suspicion of murder. All four were being quizzed by detectives on Thursday evening.
No arrests have been made. The man has not yet been made. CSI specialists remained at the scene on Thursday as neighbours spoke of their shock. It is understood the victim was knifed yards from where kids walk to school. "Although a lot is being done to prevent violence by addressing underlying causes, there is more to be done. As our detectives vigorously investigate these recent cases, specialist officers are supporting families, and our neighbourhood teams will be patrolling around areas to reassure communities."
